In the NBA, one skill separates the stars from the role players: the ability to create shots.
Some stars can create for themselves. Others create for their teammates. Players that can create for both are generally among the best players in the NBA.
Of course, some players are extremely valuable in spite of not possessing that ability. In particular, 3-and-D wings are highly coveted around the league.
Still, a 3-and-D wing who can create his own shot is even better.
Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers is one of the best examples. On the other hand, Dorrian Finney-Smith of the Brooklyn Nets is one of the purer 3-and-D wings in the NBA.
