Berlin (dpa) – Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing has announced new state support to expand the charging network for electric cars. Two new programmes are planned, he said, to “help private households to build charging stations with their own electricity supplies, and to help businesses set up fast-charging infrastructure.”
Funding worth 500 million euros aims to equip private residences with charging infrastructure including charging stations, photovoltaic equipment and batteries. The funding is expected to start this autumn, the minister said. Wissing explained that an additional plan worth 400 million euros would fund the expansion of fast-charging stations and network connections for commercial electric vehicles. These include taxi companies, he said, rental car companies and delivery services, as well as small businesses like care services and tradespeople.
