What does it mean to be the NBA’s MVP? Obviously, it means a lot. We’re not asking how much it means.
When we say a player is the most valuable player in the entire NBA, what are we saying?
What if we say it three times in a row? Better still, what if a player wins the award for three consecutive seasons, only to fall short of the NBA Finals?
Fairly or not, those awards will be scrutinized in hindsight. Yes, we are talking about Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. He’s currently the favorite to win the league’s MVP award for the third straight season.
If the Nuggets don’t make a deep playoff run, that would be highly controversial.
In that event, could he team up with Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers next season?
