The women’s pursuit cycling team will go up against United States riders in the gold medal race after trouncing Italy at the Paris Olympics.
The New Zealanders won their semifinal by 2.673 seconds ahead of the medal race on Thursday morning.
Ally Wollaston, Bryony Botha, Emily Shearman and Nicole Shields were just 0.4sec off the world record in the qualifiers on Wednesday and are seen as gold medal favourites.
The pole-vaulting trio of Eliza McCartney, Olivia McTaggart and Imogen Ayris are in action at present in the Olympic Games final at the Stade de France.
Meanwhile, Hamish Kerr is through to the men’s high jump final, after being one of only five athletes to clear a height of 2.27 metres. He made the jump on his first attempt.
