A new outdoor pool in Coquitlam won’t be opening this summer as planned because of construction delays.
City staff say the pool in Mundy Park, which is being built to replace an aging 52-year-old pool, will open instead in 2025.
The city acknowledged this is a big disappointment for residents so it will be offering a range of free outdoor activities and reduced cost programs throughout the summer.

This includes free admission at Eagle Ridge outdoor pool and water play pop-ups. Staff say Coquitlam’s recreation team will be leading activities like inflatable waterslides, slip’n’slides, relay games, and more at Coquitlam parks throughout the summer.
A schedule for the pop-up activities will be posted in the coming weeks at: coquitlam.ca.
As well, child and youth passes will be reduced to $10 from $25. The passes provide access to Coquitlam’s drop-in activities for children up to 18 years old.
When the pool opens, it will be named the Mundy Park Pool instead of Spani Pool to reflect its location in the heart of Mundy Park, the city’s largest urban forest.
Staff say this change will make it easier for residents to find.
