There is no perfect blueprint for an NBA rebuild. If there were, every team would follow it – and eventually win an NBA championship.
If you follow this league closely, you know that isn’t the case. On average, teams rebuild to the point that they’re competitive, only to fall short of the ultimate prize. Winning an NBA championship, believe it or not, is exceedingly difficult.
Recently, teams normally opt to stockpile first-round picks in order to eventually draft, or trade for, star players.
Still, that isn’t the path all teams have to follow – targeting quality, younger players is another viable route back to contention.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Ben Simmons, Indiana Pacers & Brooklyn Nets Updates
It’s one we wouldn’t be shocked to see the Indiana Pacers travel. This team is historically opposed to long-term rebuilding plans – landing a proven NBA player could get them back to playing competitive basketball sooner than expected.
Could Ben Simmons be the right guy to get them there?
