An Australian hockey player has been arrested in Paris, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed.
The player was taken into custody on Tuesday evening, Paris time.
“The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed an Australian hockey team member is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6,” the AOC said in a statement.
“No charges have been laid.
“The AOC is continuing to make enquiries and arrange support for the Team member.”
No confirmation has been made about why the player was arrested.
It has not been confirmed if the player was a member of the Kookaburras or Hockeyroos, who were both eliminated this week in their respective quarterfinals.
