A man has been charged with the murder of a Good Samaritan, who was reportedly attacked with scissors when trying to break up a fight in Hamilton on Saturday.
The 48-year-old defendant is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court on Monday, and police are also asking anyone who witnessed the attack to contact them.
The victim died following an assault at Nawton, with a witness reporting he was stabbed with scissors.
Police were called to the residential property after a fight broke out on Roy Street, Nawton at 11am.

A neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, said a man had been fighting with his dad all morning before police arrived.
“He was swearing and started throwing bottles at him… he always abuses his dad.”
A passerby who saw the abuse pulled over to help the old man out, but ended up getting involved.
“He tried to calm him down, but the man was stabbed with scissors.”
She understood children were in the car and the man lived just down the road.
“It’s pretty tragic. Poor family,” the woman said.
Detective Inspector Daryl Smith said the person was treated by ambulance staff, but sadly died at the scene.
A person was taken in to custody and was assisting police with their enquiries, he said
On Saturday afternoon, family were seen comforting one another outside the property as police investigators arrived.
The section of road was cordoned off.
A black Ford Escape parked next to the house had also been taped up.
