Former NBA player Patrick Beverley shared his thoughts on how interesting it would be if Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic paired up alongside a fellow star.
Despite moving away from the NBA and joining Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, Beverley is making headlines in the NBA with his interesting takes on “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone”.
Doncic and Beverley have locked horns multiple times in their careers, including an exciting first-round matchup in the 2021 playoffs where Doncic put the Mavs on his shoulders and stretched the series to seven games only to lose to Beverley’s Clippers.
Patrick Beverley suggests Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic could be a pairing in the future
Since his arrival in the NBA, Doncic has arguably been one of the most consistent players around, helping the Dallas Mavericks even get to the NBA Finals last season.
However, Doncic has been linked with a move away from the Mavs and Beverley believes that although it could not happen in the immediate future, the Slovenian could be a great fit alongside three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
“Probably later on but not anything now.
“It’d be a vibe.
“That s…. would be so fire, you’re talking about two of the most unguardable players in the NBA, literally dominant at their profession at their positions,” said Beverley on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone.
Denver Nuggets could actually have the resources to pair Doncic and Jokic
Prior to Russell Westbrook’s arrival to the Denver Nuggets, Jokic had not played alongside an All-Star point guard.
Although the 2017 MVP is not the same player that he once used to be, his immense passion has resulted in Westbrook becoming a key player for the Nuggets.
Pairing Doncic alongside Jokic would instantly make the Nuggets one of the best offensive teams in the NBA as both the players have elite scoring and passing abilities.
What makes Denver the ideal trade destination for the pair to play together is the fact that the franchise has some great young players who could help facilitate the trade.
Doncic has a player option for the 2026-27 season if he decides to opt out of it, the point guard could team up alongside his fellow European star in the Mile High City.
