Dutton has assured voters he has the right experience as he vies for the job of Australia’s prime minister.
In his inaugural campaign speech, the Opposition Leader said he has a strong resume both in politics and as a former small business owner.
“I have a track record, as a police officer, as a small business owner and as a minister across a number of portfolios,” he said.
“Importantly, I have a very experienced team with people from diverse backgrounds, who have experience running small businesses, creating jobs and delivering healthcare, serving our country and their communities.
“Our team is united – united, experienced and ready for the responsibility of governing Australia.”
Dutton also worked as a police officer in Queensland after starting in the force in 1988.
