PM calls for calm after cases of Omicron variant in Australia; UK, Germany and the Netherlands report infections; New search for missing Victorian campers Russell Hill and Carol Clay; 1007 new cases, three deaths in Victoria

A new search will begin today for the remains of missing Victorian campers Russell Hill and Carol Clay.

Mr Hill, 74, and Ms Clay, 73, have been missing since they vanished while camping in the Wonnangatta Valley on March 20 last year.

Detectives and forensic officers will focus the new search on the Grant Historic Area in East Gippsland.

The new search comes after a man charged with their murders faced court for the first time last week.

Pilot Greg Lynn, 55, did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until May 31, 2022.
