A winter storm swept through central and northern Iowa on Thursday, December 22, as high winds and blowing snow created blizzard conditions. Footage showing blowing snow was captured by Kevin Cavallin who said he was near Ada Hayden Park, just north of Ames. The National Department of Transportation warned travelers of icy roads. A blizzard warning remained in effect through Friday night, with “dangerous wind chills” of -25 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service.
