Seven-foot-three basketball wunderkind and projected 2023 NBA top overall pick Victor Wembanyama is set to miss this year’s EuroBassket.
According to the recent report of EuroHoops.net, Wembanyama remains out from a muscle injury that he sustained in a play with his club ASVEL Villeurbanne in the French League Semifinals.
He was initially called up to join the training camp of the French national basketball team, but Wembanyama was ultimately ruled out upon the discovery of team doctors that he hasn’t recovered enough to play competitive basketball.
Nevertheless, Les Bleus is loaded to compete in the upcoming tourney, with Rudy Gobert and Evan Fournier leading the pack.
The group phase of EuroBasket is set for tip off on Sept. 1.
