And breathe…
What a day of football we have witnessed, and it is not even over yet.
Here is a round-up of the 15.00 kick-off’s.
Steven Gerrard got off to a perfect start as Aston Villa manager after two late goals from Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Villa Park.
A thriller in Lancashire finished 3-3 between Burnley and Crystal Palace at Turf Moor, with goals from Ben Mee, Chris Wood and Maxwell Cornet for Sean Dyche’s men and a Christian Benteke double followed by a Marc Guehi finish.
Newcastle United and Brentford finished the same result at St James’ Park in the first game of the Eddie Howe era. Goals from Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin while the travelling scorers were Ivan Toney, Rico Henry and a Lascelles own goal.
Another new boss, Dean Smith, got his first win as manager of Norwich City.
Goals from Teemu Pukki and Grant Hanley cancelled out a Che Adams opener.
Watford inflicted another defeat on Manchester United, stunningly finishing 4-1 at Vicarage Road after goals from Josh King, Ismailla Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis.
Donny Van Beek made it 2-1 just after half-time, but the game turned on a Harry Maguire red card in the second half.
Last but not least, Wolves beat in-form West Ham United 1-0 at Molineux after a goal from Raul Jimenez in the Black Country.
Wow, that’s it for me and the 15.00 kick-offs, but be sure to stick around for the 17.30 between Liverpool and Arsenal.
