President George M. Weah has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping as he acquires a new five-year mandate as leader of the world’s second largest economy.
President Xi’s position as General Secretary of its Central Committee was formally renewed on Sunday by the Chinese Communist Party following a week-long Congress in Beijing.
The Liberian Leader in a dispatched said he looks forward to mutually beneficial sino-Liberia relations, as he offers compliments to his counterpart.
China has taken on many development initiatives in Liberia ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 1977.
These range from infrastructure projects, to collaboration in the health sector, and peacekeeping. During the Liberian Leader’s visit to China in 2018, both Presidents renewed their commitment to this abiding friendship, as China announced new initiatives for Liberia.
“We value our partnership and look forward to working with President Xi as he takes on a new mandate,” President Weah affirmed.
