Ranking Philadelphia 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey and the top 30 NBA shooting guards

We’re over halfway through the NBA season. In the East, the contenders are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. The West is a bit murkier, but we can still make educated guesses about which teams will rise with the tide.

Naturally, we’ve decided to revisit our ranking of the NBA’s top 30 shooting guards. Earlier this week, we tackled James Harden and the point guard position. For the two-guard spot, naturally it’s Tyrese Maxey who takes center stage for the Philadelphia 76ers (with a couple teammates in the mix, for good measure).

Shake Milton

SG, Philadelphia 76ers

Injuries briefly afforded Shake Milton the opportunity to carry the Sixers’ offense early in the season. He thrived in that role, then adjusted seamlessly to his change-of-pace role once James Harden and Tyrese Maxey returned. He’s easy to miss, but Milton has size, craft, and shot-making mojo that should land him a decent payout in free agency.

Quentin Grimes

SG, New York Knicks

A rock-solid guard defender and complementary shot-maker, Quentin Grimes has carved out his place in the Knicks’ starting five. He’s the ideal play-finisher and connective tissue for an offense built around three tank-like creators in Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, and R.J. Barrett.

Bogdan Bogdanovic

SG, Atlanta Hawks

Bogdan Bogdanovic can set the net aflame from 3-point range. His shot versatility on the perimeter, combined with impressive playmaking instincts that crop up when he’s asked to lead the second unit, makes Bogey one of the best offensive bench pieces in the NBA.
