Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) issued an evacuation alert for some residents of Coonarr at lunchtime on Monday for the Burrum Coast National Park fire.
That advice was changed just after 2pm to a watch and act, before being downgraded again to allow residents to return to the area “with caution” about an hour later, even as the fire continues to burn.
The advice applies to all people at properties between Gulchert Drive, Coonarr Road, Gum Tree Court, Oak Avenue, including Olive Tree Court, Ferntree Drive and Palm Beach Drive.
“The fire in the Burrum Coast National Park is now burning in containment lines and will continue to burn for several days,” the emergency advice states.
“It is travelling slowly towards Palm Beach Road. Firefighters are on site.
“If you left the area, you can return with caution.”
The earlier version of the warning said properties may be impacted by the blaze, and that some essential services could be cut off.
People in the wider Coonarr, Kinkuna and surrounding area have been told to stay informed about the bushfire, as conditions may change quickly.
