An NBA rebuild is like a war. Everybody isn’t going to survive.
Fans will always be upset about who gets left behind. Usually, somebody’s favorite player ends up on a different team before a rebuilding team is ready to contend. It’s an unfortunate reality of the NBA.
The more first-round picks a team makes, the more likely that is to be true. At some point, they’ve got to consolidate. It simply isn’t practical to keep everyone they’ve selected on the roster.
The Houston Rockets may need to be thinking about consolidation soon.
This team has made seven first-round picks across the last two drafts. They’re set to make two more this summer.
Could they consolidate some assets to land Keldon Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs?
