Roy Hodgson was not prepared to answer whether he wants to stay at Crystal Palace for next season after their Premier League campaign came to an end on Sunday in a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
The 75-year-old replaced Patrick Vieira for the final 10 games of the season and led the Eagles away from the relegation zone to secure the club’s 11th consecutive season in the Premier League.
Palace won five of Hodgson’s 10 games in charge at Selhurst Park during his second stint.
The South London Press understands that the club will ask the Croydon-born former England manager to stay on for next season alongside his coaching staff of Ray Lewington, Paddy McCarthy and Dean Kiely.
Palace finished 11th in the Premier League table and finished above Chelsea for the first time in the competition’s history.
“I don’t know,” said Hodgson when asked if he would stay at the club beyond this season.
“I’ll wait and see if ever that moment comes along and then I’ll make a decision.
“I’m not prepared to say now that’s what I want, or that’s not what I don’t want, because there is no mileage in that for me at all.
“I have had some experiences in the past where I have been burnt with people trying to get me to draw a line under something. But my point is that I don’t want to draw lines.”
