The future of Russell Westbrook ahead of the 2022-2023 season remains unclear but with each passing day it becomes more and more likely that he will remain with the Lakers.
Although it was reported that three teams expressed interest in making a trade for the former NBA MVP, no talks got traction. Los Angeles’ new head coach Darvin Ham has also publicly said he sees a role for Russ on the team.
It seems that that role is likely to be a starting point guard, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic. Though it may different from last season in terms of what Westbrook will be asked to do on the court.
This past season the 33-year-old point guard averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 34.3 minutes per game for the Lakers.
