A new Tifa poll for Nairobi County shows that Kenya Kwanza flagbearer, Deputy President William Ruto is closing the gap in the presidential race against his closest rival, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition’s Raila Odinga.
Notably, Ruto reduced the margin between him and Raila to 18 per cent this month compared to 25 per cent difference in the month of July.
The poll showed that Raila remained the most preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi county with a 52 per cent approval rating while Ruto’s approval rating stood at 34 per cent.

According to the poll released on Tuesday, August 2, Raila is also the most preferred presidential aspirant in Kajiado county with a 47 per cent approval rating against Ruto’s 39 per cent.
In Nairobi county, ODM’s Esther Passaris is the most preferred Woman Rep candidate with 44 per cent, and UDA’s Millicent Omanga with 28 per cent.
The poll indicated that Nairobi Senator Johnson Arthur Sakaja’s support increased from 23 per cent to 53 per cent, making him the most popular gubernatorial aspirant in the city. Polycarp Igathe’s popularity stood at 36 per cent.
Notably, the number of undecided voters decreased significantly from 53 per cent to 10 per cent.
ODM is the most popular party in Nairobi County. The proportion of those undecided about the party they support has declined over the last four months from 44 per cent to 20 per cent.
The poll also indicated that Azimio La Umoja One Kenya was the most popular coalition in the county.
In Kajiado county, Governor Ole Lenku emerged as the most preferred candidate at 36 per cent followed by Katoo Ole Metito and David Nkedianye who tie at 25 per cent in popularity levels.
TIFA noted that Judith Pareno Nayiai Ramaita is the most preferred senatorial candidate with 20 per cent while Moses Ole Sakuda and Seki Lenku Ole Kanar tied in their popularity at 19 per cent.
In the Women Rep race, UDA’s Leah Sankaire Sopiato emerged as the most preferred candidate with 25 per cent followed by ODM’s Jenipher Moinkett Sayianka who had 13 per cent.
Azimio La Umoja is the most popular political coalition amongst Kajiado county residents at 47 per cent followed by Kenya Kwanza at 33 per cent.
