Rwanda Begins Population Census – African Entertainment

Rwanda has commenced its 2022 population and Housing census.

The census is to be held over the next two weeks and will cost cost over $28m (£23), according to authorities.

Provisional results are expected by December 2022.

At least 20,000 officers are finding out from residents about the number of people in their households.

The officials are also asking people about their level of education, health cover, how they make a living, their water and electricity supply, internet use, ownership of telephones – among other questions.

Rwanda conducted its last population census in 2012. The census at the time put the East African nation’s population at 10.5 million.

Among the first people to be counted are President Paul Kagame and his wife Jeannette.
