After months of leaks, Samsung’s latest entries into its mid-tier Galaxy A series are finally ready for showtime. We have all the details on both the Galaxy A54 5G and A34 5G, and here’s everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy A54

Starting with the A54, Samsung has given its bread and butter device a 6.4-inch FHD+ SuperAMOLED display with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate. While this is pretty close to the same specs as the A53‘s screen, albeit slightly smaller (6.5 inches), Samsung did improve the brightness. The A54 tacks on an additional 200 nits compared to the last iteration, totaling up to 1,000 nits. This should make viewing in bright conditions much better than before.
Protecting that display and the back of the device will be Gorilla Glass 5. This should be enough to prevent damage from waist-high drops onto hard, rough surfaces and provide decent scratch resistance. In terms of durability, it comes with an IP rating of IP67
The front of the handset features an Infinity-O cutout for the selfie camera, which uses a 32MP sensor. Speaking of the cameras, the back of the A54 includes a group of three shooters. The main camera offers a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and video digital image stabilization (VDIS). The ultrawide uses a 12MP sensor and 5MP for the macro lens.
Powering the A54 is a 5,000mAh battery, similar to the A53. This is said to provide enough juice for 21 hours of video playback and two days of use, even when on 5G. As for charging, the phone uses 25W Super Fast Charging which should be able to fully charge the device in 82 minutes.
Moving on to one of the more important aspects of the handset, the A54 will run on an Exynos 1380 chipset. It will be supported by 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM on all models. And for storage, you’ll have a choice between 128GB and 256GB with UFS 3.1. If that’s not enough storage, the phone supports up to 1TB of microSD expandable storage.

Samsung’s more affordable mid-tier phone shares a few similarities with the A54. For example, the A34 also sports an FHD+ SuperAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of brightness. Additionally, it boasts a triple camera setup, an IP67 rating, a 5,000mAh battery, 25W Super Fast Charging, the same storage options, and Gorilla Glass 5.
However, it stops short of mimicking the same specs in a few key areas. One such area is the camera array which features a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro lens. Another notable difference is the processor, which is a MediaTek 1080 SoC. This chip makes a 17% improvement in CPU and a 14% improvement in GPU performance compared to the A33. It also comes with 6GB of RAM for the 128GB model and 8GB of RAM for the 256GB variant. And instead of an Infinity-O cutout, the A34 uses an Infinity-U cutout for the selfie camera.
