I know we’re a bit late to the party but wanted to write about this amazing monitor, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. Now we’ve seen previous Odyssey monitors like the G5 and even G9 of their older range, but this time round Samsung has announced that the new Neo G8 will have a 240Hz refresh rate and a 4K resolution, making this the first monitor of its kind.
It sports a VA panel, so great for colours and even hitting those low response times, and has a 1000R curve. It features Samsung’s Quantum Matrix technology and can hit a 1ms response time. Of course, testing would be needed to really see if these specs can be hit, so please stay tuned for that. We’re trying to get our hands on one.
The new Odyssey Neo G8 also features an anti-glare coating called Matte Display, which means light on the screen can be dispersed to aid in uninterrupted gameplay. It also comes with a height adjustable stand and swivel and tilt capabilities. It’s got a VESA mount if you’re wanting to stick it on the wall or monitor arm too.
Now it’s not cheap, but surprisingly it doesn’t cost the absolute earth either. Samsung has them on their website for around £1,299 at the time of writing this piece, so hopefully, we’ll see it come down in price in the future.
“We are thrilled to announce the UK availability of the Odyssey Neo G8, the world’s fastest 4K gaming monitor”, said Daler Bhaker, Samsung Electronics UK Ltd. “The Odyssey Neo G8 is a truly exceptional product that allows consumers to fully immerse themselves in the gaming experience. We are excited for all to enjoy.”
