Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn accompanied Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar Alounkeo Kittikhoun during the latter’s visit to Myanmar on 14-17 May 2024. The visit is made with a view to moving forward the implementation of the Five Point Consensus, through the Special Envoy’s continued engagement with relevant stakeholders in Myanmar and advancement of ASEAN’s efforts in providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar. During the visit, Dr. Kao also met with the Ambassadors of ASEAN in Yangon to discuss ASEAN Community-building, and held meetings with representatives of United Nations (UN) agencies, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the World Bank, to discuss the humanitarian situation in Myanmar and the provision of ASEAN’s humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, among others.
