Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell says the government is doing a “very sensible balance” between existing needs of energy and the future of the renewable industry.
He said the government is not moving to its 2030 emissions reduction target “overnight” and it will take some time.
“We’ve got to do that to ensure the lights stay on, until such time as we can reliably switch to renewables,” he told Sky News Australia.
