Defender, Ryan Sessegnon has returned to Fulham on a free transfer.
Sessegnon previously graduated through Fulham’s youth academy and went on to score 25 goals in 120 appearances for the Cottagers between 2016-19, before he endured a five-year injury-hit stint at Tottenham.
Following his release by Spurs last month, Sessegnon spent recent weeks training with Crystal Palace to build up his fitness – whilst Palace manager – Oliver Glasner assessed his potential to join the club.
Fulham however have swooped to bring Sessegnon back to Craven Cottage, with the 24 year-old accepting a two-year contract until June 2026 with option for a further year.
Speaking to FFCtv about his return…., Sessegnon commented: ““It’s amazing to be back. Emotional, as well. It’s where it started for me, where everything began, and it’s amazing to be back.
“It will always be home for me. I think it had the feeling that it was meant to be, coming back here, so I’m delighted to get it done.”
Vice-Chairman and Director of Football Operations at Fulham, Tony Khan added that he was “thrilled” to welcome Sessegnon back to the club as he reminisced over Sessegnon’s first spell at the club.
“I’m thrilled to announce that Ryan Sessegnon has returned to Fulham Football Club! Ryan grew up in our Academy, he spent 11 years at the Club, as he developed here into a wonderful young man and a phenomenal talent.
“I remember travelling to Leeds for the first league start of his career on 16/8/16 as if it was yesterday.
“We’re all so pleased that Ryan has come back, he is beloved here at the Club by our staff and supporters, and we know that he’ll be right at home, working with old friends and new, under Marco Silva’s great leadership.”
During his first stint at the Cottagers, Sessegnon helped Fulham win promotion to the Premier League via 2017-18 Championship Play-Offs, during which he scored the first goal in their semi-final second leg win over Derby County.
The versatile left-flank player left Fulham for Tottenham in August 2019 but only managed three goals in 57 appearances, as injuries limited his opportunities in North London.
Sessegnon even left Spurs on loan in 2020-21 season for 1899 Hoffenheim, where he netted two goals in 29 appearances, but was released upon expiration of his contract last month.
