A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Thunder Bay and Fort Frances areas in northwestern Ontario.
The warning was issued Monday morning, with Environment Canada saying the storm could bring heavy rain, very strong wind gusts, and nickel-sized hail to:
- Thunder Bay
- Cloud Bay
- Slate River Valley
- Neebing
- Rosslyn
- Fort Frances
- Kakabeka
- Rainy Lake
- Seine River Village
Meanwhile, Environment Canada has also issued special weather statements for other parts of northwestern Ontario, where heavy rain is expected Monday:
- Atikokan
- Upsala
- Dryden
- Ignace
- Red Lake
- Ear Falls
- Sioux Lookout
- Kenora
- Pickle Lake
Up to about 25 to 30 millimetres of rain is expected in those areas, and Environment Canada said thunderstorms could bring more precipitation to some parts of the region.
However, the weather agency said there is uncertainty about the timing of the precipitation, and exact amounts.
