Jersey Shore’s Brock Weiss returned from the 2022 USMC/USAW Junior and Cadet National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, as a USA Wrestling Cadet Greco Roman All-American. Weiss wrestled in Fargo last month winning his first three matches at 126 pounds.
He put up three technical falls against Jayden Bowles of Florida, Chad Benwell of Missouri and Colton Weiler from Wisconsin, reaching the quarterfinals where he dropped a 13-8 decision to Phoenix Contos of Ohio.
In the bottom half of the bracket he put together another three wins over Brayden Canoyer of Nebraska by fall (1 minute, 39 seconds) and Gage Walker of Oklahoma, 10-2. In the consolation semi-finals Weiss was victorious over Kaden Allen of Kansas, 12-8, before falling 15-6 in the third-place match to Gauge Botero of Pennsylvania.
Weiss went 6-2 with a fourth place finish in the country earning himself the All-American status.
Brock Weiss was 2022 member of the Pennsylvania Cadet National team in both Freestyle and Greco Roman. Weiss is also a returning PIAA runner-up with a career high school record of 73-11. He will be a junior this fall at Jersey Shore.
