New York: A massive fire broke out at the brand new Staten Island Ferry Sandy Ground, built at a cost of $ 85 million, at the port of New York.
According to the New York Fire Department, the fire broke out in the engine room of the ferry. Five people were injured in the fire, three of whom were taken to the hospital.
According to the authorities, the cause of the fire is yet to be known.
The Staten Island Ferry was traveling from Sandy Ground, Lower Manhattan to Staten Island, with 866 passengers and 16 crew members on board.
The Coast Guard says passengers aboard the ferry were safely evacuated and taken to the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island.
The ferry named Sandy Ground has been in use since February this year.
