Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates played out to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in the DStv Premiership.
Things simply didn’t click for both teams at a packed Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Jose Riveiro’s side were reduced to 10-men after Miguel Timm received a second yellow card in the 54th minute.
The Brazilians opened the scoring in the 76th minute through a well taken Marcelo Allende goal from the edge of the box.
Two minutes later, Tapelo Xoki was fouled in the box by Abdolmonem Boutouil. Xoki stepped up to the spot and slotted his penalty home to level matters.
And that’s how it ended at Loftus with both sides walking away with a solitary point apiece.

Mothibi on potential Lorch booing!
“I am not able to say who mustn’t boo who and I do not have control over that. Lorch has been a fan favourite at Pirates and if the supporters feel that booing him to unsettle him is something that will work for the team against Sundowns, I won’t blame them.” Orlando Pirates legend James Mothibi told SoccerLaduma.
“But I am not condoning the booing of players especially if it’s done in an appropriate manner. My understanding is that in football you can unsettle the opposition in an appropriate way if you feel that will help your team to win the match.”
