In case you’ve been completely out of touch, Mamelodi Sundowns parted ways with Rulani Mokwena. Manqoba Mngqithi is set to become the head coach, assisted by the returning Steve Komphela and Romain Folz.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS LEGEND REACTS TO THE CHANGES
According to Roger Feutmba, Mngqithi and Komphela know the Sundowns way better than other coach the club may have appointed.
“Manqoba is not new to the team. He has been around since the time of Pitso and all that,” Fetumba told FARPost. “Steve Komphela has also been around coaching. So those have been around coaching for a very long time. I believe they have gained a good level of experience.
“They know Sundowns’ philosophy when it comes to the tactical aspect of the game. I don’t even doubt that they will do well.
“A team like Sundowns will always have pressure because of what they want to achieve, because of what the management believes the team has to be,” added Fetumba.
“Considering the level of commitment in terms of the financial aspects the management is bringing in. So there will always be a challenge when you coach a team like Sundowns who want to be the best in Africa.
“As I said, both Manqoba and Komphela have been there and learned from the previous mistakes, especially in the Champions League. The quality of the players that Sundowns have, they can win the Champions League. So just need to focus because what Sundowns is doing is just continuity. There is no nothing more,” the Kabo Yellow legend concluded.
CONTRACT DETAILS
According to the same outlet, the former Golden Arrows, Chippa United and AmaZulu coach has been offered a whopping four-year contract. “FARPost has established that Manqoba Mngqithi is set to sign a four-year deal as the new head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns after successful negotiations between parties.”
Meanwhile, Manqoba agent, Mike Makaab, has revealed that the 57-year-old coach is yet to put ink on the white paper.
“The deal for Manqoba Mngqithi to become Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has been concluded in principle. We are left with paperwork, which should be done this coming week.”
