Velebayi is next
21-year-old shone in a struggling team last term, earning a call-up for Bafana Bafana during the COSAFA Cup. It’s been a sharp rise for a player who only got promoted from the club’s academy in October 2023. There are high hopes that he can become a top, top player.
“SABC Sport can reveal Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with Cape Town Spurs regarding the possible transfer of winger Asanele Velebayi,” the report said.
“Both Spurs and Chiefs are keeping a tight lid on negotiations behind the scenes, just as they did with discussions around Dortley, who was wanted by rivals SuperSport United soon after The Urban Warriors’ return to the second tier was confirmed in May.”
Percy Tau offer rejected
According to KickOff, Chiefs made a proposal for Al Ahly and Bafana winger Percy Tau. Whether or not they return with an improved bid remains to be seen, but it feels unlikely at this stage. Now 30, his best days might be behind him already.
“Ahly have received an offer from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs,”
Will Chiefs be a force to be reckoned with in 2024-2025?
