It was announced yesterday morning that Telstra has acquired Boost Mobile. While the deal means that co-founder, Peter Adderton will exit the Australian market; his focus on Mobile X in the US may pay off here.
Adderton said:
“This acquisition of Boost is the natural evolution of the brand, and I am excited to see how the brand will continue to grow under Telstra’s ownership”
For Boost customers, in the short term at least there will be no discernable difference to the service. The Boost team will be integrated into Telstra as a stand-alone team and continue to focus on delivering the experience users expect.
Telstra has been responsible for operational delivery to Boost clients for 13 years. With the distinction that Boost is the only Telstra reseller that has full retail network access, putting Boost in a strong position against many other MNVOs.
