The Africa Travel Series: Ankit Bhatia’s Mix Of Work And Fun
Published on June 18, 2022
While, December 2020 marked the climax moment for Ankit’s job as he was invited by Dubai Tourism to film Dubai , 19th February 2021 marked the advent of Ankit’s travel as he has been traveling the world and filming videos for his vlog as well as for different companies since then. With Africa being his first choice for his initial travel, Ankit aims to travel the entire world and film the extravagant and dynamic cultures of different regions.
A major question posed for Ankit Bhatia is why he chose to explore Africa as his first journey? To this, Ankit Bhatia has a simple yet enticing answer. For him, Africa was something different than his homeland or rather many other places he has been. The difference in culture, traditions, and ethics is what led him to choose Africa for his first explorations. The destination to start from was Ethiopia as being a hub of major tribal inhabitations, it served the core purpose so witnessing the extreme cultural difference. Then the lowest point of the world is located there where 3 tectonic plates meet and the most fascinating feature is the 6 lava lakes out of which 1 is active. Along with this, there is also the sulfur lake which as per Ankit Bhatia, was the craziest site for him.
After this, Ankit Bhatia started his onset towards other destinations where he stayed for 15 days. His travels were something of a kind as he traveled for 5 days and worked for two as both fun and work are his priorities. While traveling, Ankit Bhatia came around, village traditions that blew his mind, in the Omo Valley, the ladies wear lip plates and the one with the biggest plate is considered the most beautiful of all. Along with this an astounding tradition is followed during the marriage as per which the groom has to give an AK47, and 38 cattle to the family of the bridegroom for marrying her. Just like this, there are varying tribal traditions throughout.
Then Ankit visited Danakil Depression, which incorporates the active Volcanos, salt lake, sulphur lake, and is the hottest place on earth with -125 degree above sea level. In Ankit’s words, “The experience couldn’t have been more crazy as the temperatures were more than 50 degrees in the afternoon, but we never stopped. Our work and travel was simultaneous.” As per Ankit, this is how one should travel the world as one stays there for long and experiences the true traditions of the place and also work alongside. Staying at one place makes one live the beauty of that place and embibe the qualities of the nature.
With every new travel series, Ankit tries a new experience and wishes to be known as the Digital Nomad Traveler. Ankit also shared an anecdote from one his Africa Travel series where he was traveling and encountered a group of tribal people who were carrying AK47, and took lift without even asking as they were to reach their village for a fight. After this, Ankit also shares how this was the first place where the human skeleton was found and is still there.
Therefore, not all those who wander are lost, and Ankit Bhatia’s Africa’s Travel series is a proof of this.
