Will this be the year Teyana Taylor completes her (almost) clean sweep of awards? Her turn as Perfidia in One Battle After Another is short, but golly is it good: simultaneously enigmatic, tortured and self-possessed, and her spectre haunts the the rest of the film. She’d be a deserving winner on the night, but once again, there’s the question of Sinners. Wunmi Mosaku is the other big hitter in this category, and has been accumulating plenty of traction for her turn as Annie in the vampire thriller. If she won big, it would be equally satisfying.
