A recent incident that took place in El Gouna has been circulating widely on social media. A young man ended up in the hospital after a brutal attack by an allegedly jealous ex-boyfriend and 14 of his friends. This shocking act shows how privilege and poor parenting can lead to such violent behavior.
These aren’t kids struggling to get by. They graduated from the best schools and probably universities in or outside of Egypt, young men who’ve grown up with every opportunity handed to them. But instead of using this privilege to do good, they used it to act like bullies and borderline criminals.
This is what happens when kids grow up with no accountability for their actions. These boys didn’t just fail themselves; their parents failed them too. Where were the parents when they decided it was okay to beat someone up? What happened to basic human values? There’s no denying that they should face the law, and their parents should also take responsibility for raising young men who think they can get away with anything. Privilege isn’t a free pass to do whatever you want.
This isn’t just a “mistake.” It’s a violent crime, and it’s time to stop letting people like this get away with it. Enough is enough.
