The Stormers will run out onto a new playing surface next season following the completion of the ongoing relaying of the Cape Town Stadium pitch.
The field has come in for much criticism in recent months after it tore up in alarming fashion at scrum-time in particular late last season.

Cape Town Stadium CEO Lesley de Reuck confirmed that the new surface would be a ‘hybrid’ of 50 percent grass and 50 percent synthetic, making it easier to maintain.
The resurfacing process began earlier in July and is due to be completed in October, well in time for the 2023/24 season.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis on Friday shared a video of how the resurfacing is going.
“I’m at DHL Cape Town Stadium with @ZakesBantwiniSA and here’s a sneak peek of the new field progress … I know @THESTORMERS will be pleased,” Hill-Lewis tweeted.
