The New York Knicks made waves in NBA free agency by managing to pry away Jalen Brunson from the Dallas Mavericks. Their recruiting efforts were successful despite his former team making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
Without needing to execute a sign-and-trade to bring Brunson to the “Big Apple” in free agency, the Knicks have some options when it comes to their backcourt rotation.
Brunson will take over the starting point guard role presumably alongside RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier, both still in the fold on the wings. Well, at least that’s the case for now.
The Knicks have been linked often to Donovan Mitchell in trade rumors ahead of the 2022-23 season. It remains to be seen if a deal is going to get done with the Utah Jazz involving the All-Star guard. Whether it does or not, New York could still stand to move Derrick Rose.
