In the NBA, it’s hard to know when a rebuild should end. It’s also hard to know when it should begin.
If your young, rebuilding team is starting to flash potential, there will always be a temptation to make a win-now trade. At the same time, some will argue that you’re limiting your team’s future in doing so.
Conversely, if your team is underperforming relative to expectations, there will be some temptation to blow it up. You could do that.
On the other hand, your team could be a move away from getting back to where you want it to be.
For example, the Toronto Raptors are falling short of expectations this year. Some would suggest they should blow it up. By contrast, the Orlando Magic could be on the rise.
Could these two teams make a swap this season?
