The mother, father and child found dead in Sydney yesterday have been named, while a martial arts instructor remains under police guard in hospital.
Police were initially called to a townhouse complex on Watkins Road in Baulkham Hills after the body of Stephen Cho was found at 10.15am yesterday.
The officers were conducting a welfare check, and a crime scene was established.
Three hours later and acting on fresh information, police rushed to Lion’s Taekwondo Martial Arts Academy in North Parramatta.
Two other bodies, those of mother Min Cho and seven-year-old Benjamin Cho, were found at about 1pm yesterday.
The three victims are now understood to be a mother and father and their child. Relatives living in South Korea have been told of their deaths.
Daking Street, where the studio is located, was closed off as investigations continue.
Parents of students at the martial arts academy were sent a text message to say classes had been suspended today while the chief instructor, Lion Yoo, was in hospital.
Yoo presented to Westmead Hospital with knife wounds after a reported stabbing at North Parramatta, not far from where the two bodies were found.
He is currently under police guard, as officers try to establish the exact chain of events.
Multiple crime scenes have been established and are being examined by forensic officers.
Police are expected to speak on the deaths at a media conference later today.
