When an NBA team is rebuilding, they’ll eventually look to “flip the switch”.
In other words – they’ll look to start winning. No team intends on rebuilding forever. Eventually, a front office decides to start acquiring players that will lead them toward contention.
Of course, they’ve got to wait until they’re ready. Sinking assets into quality players before your team is ready to compete can be a recipe for long-term mediocrity.
First, you accumulate assets, and when the time comes, you start to use them.
That time may have come for the Oklahoma City Thunder. This team looks ready to start competing in 2022-23. They may be a big trade away from returning to the playoffs.
Could that big trade involve acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics?
