Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has shared her thoughts on why Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy Burna Boy—often referred to as the “Big 3” of Afrobeats—are still relevant on the scene, even after years later, ever since their debut.
While appearing on the “Shopping The Sneakers” podcast, the “Pick Up” songbird lauded Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as prime examples of artists who have effectively forged lasting connections with their audiences.
“It’s not just about the music; it’s your fanbase and your brand,” Savage remarked. “You’ve to think of your fashion. You’ve to be relatable. A lot of times, artists are just putting out music; they are not really connecting with the fans,“ she said.
According to Tiwa Savage, establishing real ties with fans goes beyond releasing hit tracks and that it encompasses lifestyle, image, and authenticity. She further gave Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy their flowers for mastering this art and science, which keeps them consistently relevant, even during musical lulls.
“They love their lifestyles. Whether they are dropping a song or not, they are in the conversation. So it’s really important to build a fanbase. You are only as good as strong as your team,” Savage explained.
