Packing for a trip can be stressful, especially if you’re trying to fit everything you need into a small suitcase. To make the process a little easier, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 things you should pack for your next trip.
The most important things to pack for a trip
1. Passport and other important documents
If you’re traveling internationally, you must bring your passport and other important documents, such as visas or vaccination records. Make sure to keep these items in a safe place, such as a travel wallet or your hotel safe.
2. Clothing
Think about the climate and activities you’ll be doing on your trip, and pack accordingly. Be sure to include a mix of casual and dressier outfits, layers for varying temperatures, a waterproof jacket, or a poncho in case of rain. Don’t forget to pack comfortable shoes, too.
3. Toiletries
Pack your essential toiletries, such as natural toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant. If you’re worried about running out of space in your luggage, consider packing travel-sized versions of these items or leaving some behind and purchasing them at your destination.
4. Medications
If you take any prescription medications, be sure to pack them in your carry-on luggage in case your checked bag gets lost. It’s also a good idea to bring a small first aid kit with band-aids, painkillers, and any other medications you might need while on the road. However, I always recommend to lead a healthy lifestyle (ideally vegan diet, yoga and meditation practice) so you would not need any chemical medications 😉
5. Electronics
Depending on your destination and the length of your trip, you may want to bring a few electronics, such as a laptop, phone, camera, and charger. Consider investing in a portable charger or power bank to keep your devices charged on the go.
6. Snacks
Packing a few snacks can be a lifesaver when you’re on a long flight or road trip. Opt for non-perishable items like nuts, granola bars, raw vegan bars, freshapples and fruit cups that won’t spoil easily.
7. Cash and credit cards
Don’t forget to bring some cash and at least one credit card with you on your trip. It’s always a good idea to have a backup form of payment in case of emergencies.
8. A map or guidebook
Even if you have a smartphone with maps, it’s a good idea to bring a physical map or guidebook with you. These can be especially helpful if you’re traveling to a destination with spotty internet or if you want to unplug and disconnect from technology for a while.
Don’t forget to download offline maps to your smarphone, too.
9. A small bag
Pack a small, collapsible bag that you can use for day trips or as a carry-on for flights. This will come in handy if you want to bring souvenirs or extra items back with you.
10. A water bottle
Staying hydrated is important, especially when you’re traveling. Pack a reusable water bottle and fill it up at water fountains or at your hotel. This will save you money and reduce waste. Win-win!
By packing these essential items, you’ll be prepared for any situation that may come up while you’re traveling. Don’t forget to leave some extra room in your luggage for souvenirs and any items you pick up along the way. Happy travels!
