Tottenham Hotspur are thinking about making a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore as they look to strengthen their team in the January transfer window.
Wolves had reached an agreement to loan the 25-year-old to Spurs last summer, but the deal between the two parties finally fell through and the Spain international stayed put at Molineux Stadium.
According to the Athletic, new Spurs boss Antonio Conte is open to the idea of turning Traore into a right wing-back, as he had done in the past with Victor Moses while he was in charge of Chelsea.
Conte has implemented a 3-4-3 formation since becoming Tottenham head coach, with former Barcelona full-back Emerson Royal occupying the aforementioned position, while the Italian coach does not seem to have back-up right-back Matt Doherty in his plans.
Doherty back to Wolves?
As reported by the Athletic, Tottenham are willing to use Doherty as a makeweight in a potential deal that would see Traore make the reverse trip to north London.
Doherty has played 40 games for Tottenham after joining the club from Wolves back in 2020 in exchange for around £15 million. Meanwhile, Traore’s price tag is believed to have been set at around £20m, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023.
