Wiesbaden (dpa) – Tourism in Germany hit record highs in 2024. Hotels, B&Bs, campsites and other accommodation operators in Germany’s holiday regions from the Alps to the North Sea and the Baltic reported 465.3 million stays in the year to December. The figures are up almost 2% from the previous year and just beat the previous high reached in the first 11 months of 2019. “The fact that overnight stays have risen despite unpredictable weather is without doubt a positive sign,” said Norbert Kunz, Managing Director of DTV, the German Tourism Association. Strong figures are expected for December thanks to the Christmas holidays and the beginning of the ski season. As the DTV data only covers larger operators with at least ten rooms (or equivalent), the number of overnight stays by tourists in Germany will be even higher when smaller operators are included.
