A crash between two trucks has blocked State Highway 1 in Marlborough.
The crash between Bush and Para roads in Tuamarina happened at 9.50am on Thursday.
A person has been flown to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition.
Firefighters extricated a person trapped in a truck.
Police said the highway was expected to be closed for some time and diversions were being put in place.
“The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.”
A detour is available for light vehicles only via Queen Charlotte Drive and State Highway 6.
