Twitter has started rolling out view counts for tweets. This does not come as a total surprise, as Elon Musk did mention, earlier this month, that tweet view counts could be coming to the platform.
Twitter starts rolling out tweet view counts
Based on the report from The Verge, however, this is not rolling out to everyone. I, personally, do see them, but you may not. We’re not sure if this is just a test at this point, or if Twitter is rolling them out to everyone, but it’s taking its sweet time. It’s probably the latter, though.
That being said, tweet analytics have been available for quite some time. This change does bring some information front and center, however. You don’t have to click the analytics (which are now moved to the left) to see a bunch of info, tweet view counts are now visible right next to the analytics button.
If you do click on tweet analytics, however, you can get far more information. They’re showing impressions, engagement, profile visits, and more. Putting tweet view counts front and center will certainly make them more visible, and give everyone some insight.
This does make tweet more cluttered
We’re not sure how this change is useful, though. It only makes the menu below the tweet more cluttered than it has been thus far. Twitter users are already complaining left and right about it, based on what I’ve seen.
Such information is not exactly useful to regular users, and it only clutters up their feed. So we’re not sure what is the plan here. Will it stay this way, or is Musk planning to do something else. We did not get any explanation.
Speaking of which, Elon Musk is actively looking for a new Twitter CEO, as we speak. He sent out a poll recently, asking users to decide whether he should stay Twitter CEO or not. Twitter users voted against it, and he’s now on the lookout for a replacement.
