Two serious crashes have shut highways in the North Island.
State Highway 10 near Kaeo in the Far North was closed after a number of people were injured in a crash.
No diversions were available, but police said the road was reopened by 7.40pm.
And in the Central North Island, State Highway 47 near Tongariro was closed after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services attended the crash in the Tongariro National Park about 4pm.
Police initially said a number of people sustained serious injuries and in an update later said two people died at the scene.
They said they were looking into the circumstances of the crash.
State Highway 47 has since re-opened.
