SuperSport United defender Thulani ‘Tyson’ Hlatshwayo was voted the club’s Player of the Season.
In his debut season for Matsatsantsa, the 33-year-old defender helped his side to a third place finish in the 2022/23 DStv season.
The awards ceremony was held at the Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg on 22 May 2023.

Tyson came to United after a dreadful spell at Orlando Pirates. He spent his final years on the sideline after poor form and change on coaching.
“”I had never imagined that I’d find myself in that sort of situation because if you look at my football career, starting from my days at Ajax (Cape Town), Bidvest Wits, and the national team, I’ve always been a player that plays 25+ games a season,” Tyson told IOL back in December 2022.
“I have always been there defending and scoring goals throughout all those years up until 2020 and that situation was fairly new to me as a player.”

Tyson is one of Gavin Hunt’s most consistent players and could find his way back into Bafana Bafana should he continue with the form he showed last season.
